Create A Concession Stand Out Of A Storage Shed

Print Page

Does your organization need a concession stand? We've got you covered. A storage shed can easily be customized into a concession stand with a few upgrades. When designing your new concession stand building, consider some of these most popular features and upgrades:

1. Concession Window & Counter

Adding a concession window with a counter is an upgrade we recommend for any concession stand. The addition of a serving window creates an easily identifiable place for your customers to form a line and wait their turn to purchase their food and drinks. While the counter provides space to collect and hand over items, the large window also allows ample room for the breeze to come in and cool your staff. At Pine Creek Structures, we offer concession windows in several styles including: Slider Panel (our most popular style!), Bi-Fold Doors, Swing Out, or Swing In. Also consider the size of the crowd and your staff. You may wish to add multiple concession windows so you have more space to serve customers

2. Door Size and Placement

You'll need at least one door to enter/exit your new building. Consider the size and placement. Do you need a single door, a double door, or even multiple doors? If you are planning on serving items off a grill, consider where you plan on setup up the grill outside and place the door(s) to create a convenient path between the grill and the concession stand. If you are planning on posting a menu board by the serving window, make sure to not place the door in this area. Also avoid placing a door where your line may form. Where you place your door may also help create a path for better airflow on warm summer days. If you plan to include large coolers for beverages and refrigerated items/supplies, make sure to leave enough wall space for these units to avoid blocking windows and doors.

3. Porch

Adding a porch is another popular option! A porch creates a shady place for your customers to wait in line or access a table with condiments, napkins, and utensils.

4. Shelves and Lofts

Consider all the items you will need to run the concession stand and items you are selling. Shelves, workbenches, and lofts can help keep your equipment and supplies organized! A loft is a great place to store away large boxes of extra cups, plates, napkins, and utensils. If you will be utilizing slow cookers or need space to assemble items, a workbench with a shelf above may be a great addition. If you plan to sell items like chips and candy, shelves near the concession window create an optimal display area.

5. Electrical Packages

If you plan to use items such as cash registers, slow cookers, or refrigerators, you'll need a power source. Electrical packages are available and customizable. Place lights, receptacles, and light switches as desired around your building. Light fixtures can be placed both inside and on the outside of the building for you and your customers.

6. Partitions and Extra Storage Area

Some organizations (especially outdoor sports such as baseball, softball, football, etc) also have a great deal of other equipment and supplies. Some groups choose a large building and add a wall dividing the interior into two distinct areas: one for storage and one for concessions. Each area can be customized as needed for that function.
